It's Time To Act Now!
Since COVID hit, it has become imperative to transition and adapt to running the restaurant with limited resources in order to survive. We thought this new reality would be short-term, but it clearly has not been. Now, over a year into the pandemic, we still struggle to pay rent, and to cover regular overhead expenses, including inventory. With the Black Businesses Matter Fund, Leyou would be able to catch up on rent, bills, and payroll. Aida and those at Leyou look forward to having the restaurant once again become a community gathering place where we will have the opportunity to resume meaningful interactions with those who work at, and visit, Leyou.

About
Aida Taye opened Leyou Ethiopian in March 2019 with her retirement savings to showcase Ethiopian cuisine and culture, incorporating healthy ingredients and preparation techniques by offering a wide variety of vegan and gluten free options. Aida and those at Leyou make a point to collaborate with local designers, artists, and vendors to make Leyou an eco-friendly, community-based restaurant.

Unfortunately, nine months after opening, COVID-19 hit, and within days everything at Leyou had to change.
